Positive and resourceful: this is how we could describe the Rémond sisters on the sidelines of the growing success of their company Les Minettes. Like their delicacy, Pascale and Marie-Claud contain a zest of passion, a hint of fantasy and a pinch of gourmet heredity!
Since their opening in November 2015, Les Minettes have been developing gourmet products, which they produce in an artisanal way. Salty, sweet, crunchy, jarred or bottled, these are made in Montreal from local and seasonal ingredients. “For all our seasonal products, we took care to meet each of the producers with whom we wanted to work. Moreover, we identify them on our products; it is important for us to promote our Quebec terroir. »
Daddy's Girls
Having grown up with a chef dad, Pascale and Marie-Claud were immersed from a young age in the wonderful world of the pleasures of the table. It was therefore quite natural for them to see their life choices leading them in this direction. Several bases and recipes are also taken from their French family background, such as Coulis melon & Ricard, Quetsche plum jam and Vinegar with tarragon.
Work-work-family balance (sic)!
The financial reality of launching their small business forces Pascale and Marie-Claud to keep their respective jobs for the time being. Nevertheless, those who have related professional experience in graphic design, marketing and event organization refuse to give up. “So these are 70-hour weeks, sometimes more, that we have been putting on since the launch. But the objective remains the same: to devote ourselves 100% to Les Minettes in the near future! »
Communication and Compromise
Although the Rémond sisters have known each other forever, the fact remains that communication is the key to the success of their business. “We try to talk to each other about the smallest turd on the heart to prevent it from degenerating. We are associates, sisters and best friends; our relationship is more important than anything. We do a lot of work on ourselves and, in the end, it's positive! »
“Anyone who has ever started a business knows how much compromise and sacrifice it can take. It's not easy every day, but when you stop to look at what you're building, it's definitely worth it! »
Upcoming projects
For now, Pascale and Marie-Claud are preparing their mouth-watering products in a collaborative kitchen, but soon they will have no choice but to find a new place – their own kitchen! Faced with the growth of their business, they are already surprised to dream that one day, there will be a successor for the Minettes among their children... in the same way that they have taken up, in their own way, the torch handed to them by their father.
