When you're pregnant, finding comfortable maternity clothes that match your style can quickly turn into a real headache. If we are also looking for parts made in Quebec, it becomes almost mission impossible. By creating Maman GAGA, Sabrina Garneau wanted to turn things around. She has set herself the goal of offering women a stylish and evolving line of clothing for future mothers. It was with little stars in her eyes that she told me about her journey.
FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT
The little girl from Abitibi has always wanted to start her own company. It was in April 2016 that she decided to embark on the entrepreneurial adventure. An artist at heart, Sabrina has returned to her first love: drawing. She studied art initially. For the moment, Sabrina also has a job in the field of finance. She is currently making every effort to one day be able to devote all her time to Maman GAGA.
When Sabrina became pregnant, she quickly realized that the choices offered to future mothers were very limited and above all that it did not really correspond to her. She wanted to offer outfits suitable for pregnancy and breastfeeding. “I wanted to create all-in-one clothes that follow us from start to finish”.
KNOWING YOURSELF WELL
Sabrina began to put the sketches of her first collection on paper during the many nights she spent breastfeeding her son. She then surrounded herself with a team of renowned professionals in the field of fashion to design the patterns and make her clothes. “Everything happened naturally, people wanted to help and get involved in my project”. She also let herself be inspired by the beautiful collaborations put in her way along the way. “It allows me to evolve and open new doors. It feeds me a lot”.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
Sabrina is currently working on setting up a crowdfunding campaign with Ulule to allow her business to really take off. The funds raised will be used, among other things, to participate in major markets. “I want Maman GAGA to be here to stay. I take my time. »
It is sometimes difficult as an entrepreneur to make yourself known. “There is so much information and news circulating on social media. It's hard to be seen. Sabrina admits having experienced a few moments of doubt. But luckily, these were short-lived. “I had questions, I had a bit of impostor syndrome, but I came back to basics. I wondered why I was doing it. I know there is a need and I know that what we do, we do well. So we continue and we move forward. »

SLOW FASHION
Sabrina wishes to keep the making of her collections in Quebec. All the comfortable, trendy and evolving clothes signed by Maman GAGA are designed and made in Montreal. “I want the clothes to be of high quality and keeping the production here allows me to ensure that. She can thus supervise each step.
The entrepreneur says he does not like the concept of collections that must be completely renewed each season. She wants her pieces to be worn all year round. "Anyway when you're pregnant with hormones, you're always hot and personally I liked to wear sleeveless tops even if it was cooler," says Sabrina with a laugh. She prefers to stagger her novelties throughout the year. The passionate designer would like to succeed in the future in selling an exclusive per month.

DREAM BIG
The one who calls herself a real GAGA mom since the arrival of her son, is also preparing new collaborations which should see the light of day soon. What is his wildest dream for his business? It would be to have a storefront one day. She wishes to have a workshop-boutique where she could meet people and discuss with them. This much-desired shop will undoubtedly be a place of exchange, with a designer decor, but above all, suitable for GAGA mums. We wish him wholeheartedly!
I invite you to consult the Signé Local member file for more information on the collection signed Maman GAGA .
