A board you leave on the counter rather than in the cupboard: the dark walnut, the three cherry stripes, and the groove that catches the juices from the roast while it rests.

Hazaki was founded by Samuel Bouchard and is based in Montreal. Its knives are forged in Japan by its partner Yasuo; the handles, boards and accessories are shaped by hand in Canada, from sustainably sourced woods.

Format: reversible board. One side has a deep groove to catch meat juices, the other a flat surface for fruits and vegetables. Delivered in a gift box with a sample of wood butter.

Dimensions: 17 x 13 in (43 x 33 cm).

Materials: walnut and cherry, finished with several coats of a blend of mineral oil and beeswax.

Care: hand wash only. Wipe with a clean cloth after use, clean with soap once a week and apply wood butter once a month.
