This line grew out of the work of the Avataq Cultural Institute, an Inuit cultural organization in Nunavik created in 1980, which first documented traditional herbalism with Elders before launching the commercial line in the early 2000s. The plants are picked and dried by hand by residents of the Nunavik communities. The brand has belonged to Makivvik since December 2023.
Format: 50 tea bags.
Ingredients: bearberry leaves (uva-ursi), peppermint leaves, Labrador tea leaves (Mamaittuqutik), licorice root, eucalyptus leaves, bitter fennel seeds, coltsfoot leaves, ginger root.
Serving suggestion: steep one bag for a few minutes in a cup of hot water, depending on the strength you want.
Storage: keep in an airtight container, away from humidity.
Precautions: contains Labrador tea, which has stimulating properties according to the manufacturer.
Origin: plants picked and dried in the Nunavik communities, in the Nord-du-Québec region.
